Trojans Take Down Coker University 14-8

Mount Olive, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive men's lacrosse team defeated Coker University in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at the Coker Athletic Field in Hartsville, S.C.

INSIDE THE SCORE
Mount Olive lost the opening face-off but quickly regained possession with a caused turnover by Liam Phillips. After a successful clear Lucas Shein quickly found the back of the net and put Mount Olive on the board 1-0 at the 14:19 mark. It only took the Trojans two minutes to score again as Tayler Keele found Conner Watson to take the lead 2-0. Coker responded with back to back goals in under forty-nine seconds to tie the game at the 10:25 mark. The game stayed tied until 7:26 when Liam Phillips for Mount Olive scored a goal to put them up 3-2. Coker tied the game at 3-3, but Mount Olive offense finished strong and ended up the quarter 5-3.

In the second quarter, Coker scored in the first two minutes into the second by Ethan Irizarry putting the score at 5-4 at the 13:36 mark. It took seven minutes for the Trojans to respond back. Braydon Hickey was able to find the back of the net with the Trojans leading 6-4. Coker answered back with a goal at 3:38 trailing behind 6-5 at the end of the quarter.

In the third quarter, Coker came back with a little fire scoring the first goal at 14:18 to tie the game 6-6. From 12:48 to 756 left in the quarter the Trojans added three goals to increase their lead 9-6.

In the final quarter, Mount Olive's Blake Tallon and Brody Sullivan scored two goals with 13:59 remaining to keep the Trojans in the lead 11-6. Coker's Henry Haskett was able to put up one for the Cobra's at the 10:25 mark, cutting into the lead 11-7. The Trojans put up another two goals with 7:25 left in the game extending their lead to 13-7. Coker was able to find the net once more at 5:51 still trailing behind 13-8. Mount Olive put up one more goal to end the game and secure the 14-8 win.

MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
The Trojans were led by Gunner Parson with 3 goals. Lucus shein, Blake Tallon, Conner Watson each added two goals. Tyler Keele led the Trojans with four assists and Andrew Avarello led the team with four groundballs.

COKER LEADERS
The Coker Cobra's were led by Ethan Irizarry, Joe Venazio, Kaden Ross who all had two goals. 

KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game was in the fourth quarter when the Trojans added three goals in just 4:52 to secure the win.
