Mount Olive Falls to Lees-McRae

The University of Mount Olive was unable to come back from a 1-0 deficit Saturday night as they fell to Lees-McRae College in Conference Carolinas men's soccer.

Mount Olive (2-6-2 Overall, 0-3 Conference Carolinas) struggled to get off the ground offensively as Lees-McRae (7-2-1, 2-1-1) came out firing. The Bobcats had eight shots before the ninth one connected for the solo score of the game.

James Galvani for Lees-McRae was able to get the only shot in the goal for the match when he beat the Trojan keeper who came out to defend to ball and was out maneuvered to find an open net.

The second period Mount Olive had three straight opportunities to tie to game in the 76th minute. After a Mount Olive header was saved by the keeper it set up two corner kicks for the Trojans but they were unable to find the equalizer.

Mount Olive returns to the pitch Thursday as they will travel to Pfeiffer University to play the Falcons in a Conference Carolinas match-up. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
