Trojans Drop Season Opener To Chowan 4-0

University of Mount Olive fell to Chowan University 4-0 in non-conference men's soccer Thursday at Murfreesboro, N.C. Cooper Gaypia and Trevor Knight recorded three shots apiece to account for half of the Trojans' 12 shots. The match was the season opener for both teams.

The match was scoreless until Chowan broke the deadlock in the 25th minute. The Hawks added a goal off of a corner kick in the 39th minute to take a 2-0 halftime lead, then scored on another corner kick eight minutes into the second half. Chowan capped the scoring with just over 90 seconds left in the contest.

Mount Olive begins a four-match homestand Sunday as the Trojans play host to Goldey-Beacom in non-conference action. Match time is 4 p.m. at Amon Field and follows Mount Olive's women's soccer match against Goldey-Beacom.
