Men's Soccer Falls To No. 21 Limestone, 1-0

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive men's soccer team fell 1-0 to the No. 21 ranked Saints of Limestone College in Conference Carolinas men's soccer action Saturday afternoon at Amon Field.

How It Happened
Play-by-Play

First Half

  • Mount Olive and Limestone battled back and forth for much of the first half until the Saints were fouled inside the box in the 33rd minute. 
  • Austin Porter, the Trojan goalkeeper, spotted up and came up with a clutch save to keep the Saints off the boards and the score nil-nil.
  • Limestone just over five minutes later was finally able to find a small enough hole in the Trojan defensive back line and the game's first and only goal was scored in the 38th minute.

Second Half

  • The Trojans continued to try and make a comeback in the second half and were able to put two shots on frame but could not find the equalizer.

Up Next

Mount Olive is back action on Tuesday, October 23, as they remain at Amon Field to face Barton College. The Trojans and Bulldogs take to the field with a first kick time of 7 p.m. It will also be senior night for the Trojans.
