UMO Men's Soccer Drops Season Opener 4-1 To Coker In Road Battle

HARTSVILLE, South Carolina – The University of Mount Olive men's soccer team opened the 2019 season with a 4-1 loss on the road to the Coker University Cobras in non-conference action Saturday night in Hartsville, S.C.
 
Game Information
The Trojans, who are opening the season a week later due to hurricane Dorian forcing cancelations, found themselves down 6:13 into the match as Coker scored the first goal. 

Mount Olive was able to battle back and knot the game at one in the 19th minute as James Lang scored his first goal of the season. Coker, however, had the final momentum of the half scoring twice in the 28th and 33rd minutes respectively taking a 3-1 lead into the break, a deficit UMO could not overcome.

The Cobras added a final insurance goal in the second half and took the final score of 4-1.

 
Trojan Leaders
Mount Olive was led by James Lang with the only score for the Trojans as he registered five shots, three on frame.

Iwan Roberts (0-1) in goal for the Trojans faced nine shots and record five saves playing all 90 minutes.

Cobra Leaders
Coker was led by Riccardo Ricci who had two goals on three shots.

Key Moment
Following the 1-1 tie, Coker's goal in the 29th minute by Lucas Miquel Castillo proved to be the game-winner for the Cobras as UMO was unable to mount a comeback.
