UMO Men's Soccer Fly Past Warriors 6-2

MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina – The University of Mount Olive men's soccer team defeated Southern Wesleyan University 6-2 in Conference Carolinas action Saturday afternoon at Amon Field in Mount Olive, N.C.   
 
Game Information
The first half saw UMO's Sam Murphy give the Trojans the lead first in just the second minute of the game off a header in front of the Warrior goal. Southern Wesleyan would go on the tie the game in the 17th minute but goals by Ethan Willie (24:36) and Pedro Franca (30:32) regave Mount Olive the lead for good. 

In the second half, Southern Wesleyan got to within a goal in the 60th minute, but once again the ferocious Trojan offensive attack came back and scored three goals to end the game and put the game well in hand as Benjamin Dufton-Kelly, Arthur Lucas, and Andrew Martin gave UMO the 6-2 win. 

 
Trojan Leaders
Trevor Berk helped facilitate the Trojan offense as he assisted in four of UMO's six goals, all by different teammates. Berk's four assists against Southern Wesleyan tied a program record for assists in a game.

Iwan Roberts (2-4-1, 1-1-1 CC) in goal for the Trojans recorded two saves on four shots on goal.

Warrior Leaders
Southern Wesleyan was led by Grant Kiker who scored one of SWU's two goals off three shots.

Key Moment
The two goals scored in the first half by Willie and Franca proved to be the deciding factor as Southern Wesleyan was unable to make a comeback from that point on and Mount Olive continued to apply the pressure from that point one.
