Trojans Men's Soccer Battles But Falls To King 2-1

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The University of Mount Olive men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to the Tornado of King University 2-1 in Conference Carolinas action Saturday afternoon in Bristol, Tenn.
 
Game Information
The Trojans jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 21st minute as MacLayne Gairrett found the back of the net after Baptiste Tajan found him open in front of the goal. UMO held onto their one-goal lead for the remainder of the half and nine minutes of the second before King had a response. The Tornado answered in the 55th minute to knot the game at one and then took the lead 20 minutes later and never looked back as KU held on for the win.

 
Trojan Leaders
MacLayne Gairrett led the Trojans with their only goal on his only shot of the game.

Iwan Roberts (2-7-1, 1-4-1 CC) in goal for the Trojans recorded four saves on six shots on goal.

Tornado Leaders
King was led by Ben Delisle as he had the game-winner in the second half.

Key Moment
The second-half goal proved to be the deciding factor as KU needed just one score to come away with the victory.
