No. 7 Seed Mount Olive Fall To No. 3 Seed Erskine 3-0 In Conference Carolinas Semifinals

MURFREESBORO, North Carolina– The No. 7 seeded University of Mount Olive men's soccer team dropped to the no. 3 seed Flying Fleet of Erskine College 3-0 in the Semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Championship Friday afternoon in Murfreesboro, N.C. The loss concludes the Trojans' season after making it to the conference tournament.
 
Game Information

The Trojans saw the first goal of the game sneak by on a counter attack in the 30th minute by the Flying Fleet of Erskine and EC went up 1-0. The half ended without a Trojan shot and Mount Olive went into the break down by one. Erskine wasted no time extending their lead as a far distance shot in the 47 minute gave them a 2-0 lead. Two more shots registered for the Trojans before the final dagger came from the Flying Fleet in the 81st making the advantage three and UMO was unable to fire another shot in the contest.

 
Trojan Leaders

Mount Olive was led by both Nathan Esslinger and Sam Murphy who had two shots each for the Trojans.

Iwan Roberts (3-10-1) in goal for the Trojans corraled nine saves on 12 shots.

Flying Fleet Leaders

Erskine was led by Fernando Gonzalez who had one of EC's three scores on three shots.
