Nationally-Ranked Men's Tennis Sweeps NGU In Opener

Mount Olive gave up no more than four games and the nationally 46th-ranked Trojans swept North Greenville 9-0 in Conference Carolinas men's tennis Friday afternoon at the Walker Tennis Center.

The Trojans (1-0 Overall, 1-0 CC), coming off the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance a year ago, was dominant in their season-opener. Top singles player Edgar Bub, ranked number 17 in the ITA Division II Men's Tennis Southeast Rankings, cruised past Hugo Ciarrocchi 6-1, 6-0. Later in the afternoon, Bub joined Henric Falkenberg in an 8-1 win over Ciarrocchi and Juan Vargas. Falkenberg defeated Guiherme Ferreira 6-2, 6-0 at number two singles.

Gabriel Santana cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at number three singles, while Stanley Roffe, Brahm Moolman and Jack Frampton followed suit for Mount Olive.

North Greenville (0-2, 0-2) fared little better in doubles play. Santana/Roffe and Moolman/Frampton won for the Trojans.

Mount Olive quickly returns to play as the Trojans travel to Chowan University Saturday for a 1 p.m start.
