Men's Tennis Remains Unbeaten - Trojans Defeat Erskine 7-2

Brahm Moolman and Stan Roffe combined for a shutout win in doubles and dropped only three games between them in singles play as nationally 50th-ranked Mount Olive defeated Erskine 7-2 in Conference Carolinas men's tennis Saturday at Walker Tennis Center. The win keeps the Trojans unbeaten overall and in conference play.

Mount Olive (3-0 overall, 2-0 Conference Carolinas) swept all three doubles matches to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Moolman and Roffe posted an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles, as did Edgar Bub and Rik Wolthuis at No. 1 doubles. Henrik Falkenburg and Akio Mariano won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles.

Roffe lost only one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles and Moolman won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 singles to seal the team victory. Bub posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles and Mariano won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

Saturday's contest marked the start of four matches in five days for Mount Olive. The Trojans play host to West Virginia Wesleyan Sunday at 1 p.m. in a recently added non-conference match. Then the Trojans head to Hilton Head Island, S.C., for a pair of non-conference contests. Mount Olive takes on Catawba Tuesday and Quincy (Ill.) Wednesday. Match time both days is 11 a.m.
