Nationally 50th-Ranked Men's Tennis Remains Unbeaten With Two Spring Break Wins

Nationally 50th-ranked Mount Olive remained unbeaten with a pair of non-conference men's tennis victories during its Spring Break trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C., this week. The Trojans defeated Catawba 8-1 Tuesday and held off Quincy (Ill.) 7-2 Wednesday.

The wins improve the Trojans to 6-0.

Mount Olive swept all three doubles matches against Catawba to go to 15-0 in doubles play on the season. Edgar Bub and Rik Wolthuis won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, Henrik Falkenburg and Akio Mariano won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles and Brahm Moolman and Stan Roffe also won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

The Trojans posted five straight-set wins in singles play, but lost its bid for a shutout with a tie-breaker loss at No. 2 singles.

Against Quincy, Mount Olive's winning streak in doubles came to an end with a loss at No. 1 doubles. The Trojans won the other two doubles matches and five-of-six singles matches.

Mount Olive is idle until March 15 when the Trojans travel to Charlotte, N.C., to take on Queens in Conference Carolinas action. The match was originally scheduled last month, but had to be moved due to inclement weather. Match time is 2 p.m.
