Nationally 50th-ranked Mount Olive swept doubles play and won five-of-six matches as the Trojans remained unbeaten with an 8-1 victory over Pfeiffer in Conference Carolinas men's tennis Sunday at Walker Tennis Center.
Mount Olive (8-0 overall, 4-0 Conference Carolinas) took a 3-0 lead with three doubles wins, highlighted by Brahm Moolman and Gabriel Santana teaming up for the first time this season and posting an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles. Henric Falkenburg and Akio Mariano won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles and Edgar Bub and Rik Wolthuis pulled out a 9-8 win at No. 1 doubles.
Pfeiffer (8-4, 3-2) avoided a shutout with a win at No. 1 singles, but Mount Olive clinched the team win as Falkenburg won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and Santana rallied from a first-set loss for a 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles.
Mount Olive returns to action Wednesday as the Trojans play host to Barton in a Conference Carolinas match-up. Match time is 3:30 p.m. at Walker Tennis Center.
