No. 50 Men's Tennis Celebrates Senior Day With 7-2 Win Over King

Akio Mariano was one of four players to post wins in both singles and doubles as nationally 50th-ranked Mount Olive celebrated Senior Day and remained unbeaten in conference play with a 7-2 victory over King in Conference Carolinas men's tennis Saturday at Walker Tennis Center. The win keeps the Trojans in a first-place tie in the conference standings.

Mariano and fellow senior Gabriel Santana were recognized prior to the match.

Mount Olive (11-1 overall, 7-0 Conference Carolinas) swept doubles play to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Straight-set singles with by Edgar Bub at No. 1 singles and Henric Falkenburg at No. 3 singles extended the Trojans' lead to 5-0 and clinched the team win.

The Trojans entered Saturday's play as one of three conference unbeatens. Coker defeated Limestone Saturday in battle between the two other teams unbeaten in conference play. The Trojans play Coker and Limestone on the road in April.

Mount Olive goes out of conference Wednesday as the Trojans travel to Greenville, N.C., to take on Division I East Carolina. Match time is 6:30 p.m.
