Regionally seventh-ranked University of Mount Olive opened conference play with a pair of wins as the Trojans defeated Erskine and King in Conference Carolinas men's tennis over the weekend. The Trojans posted an 8-1 win over Erskine Saturday and defeated King by an identical 8-1 score Sunday.
Against Erskine, Mount Olive (8-1 overall, 2-0 Conference Carolinas) won two-of-three doubles matches and secured the team victory after winning in straight sets at each of the top three singles flights. Matt Finnerty won at No. 1 singles, Edgar Bub won at No. 2 singles and Henric Falkenberg won at No. 3 singles. Stanley Roffe, Matheus Ribiero and Brahm Moolman also posted singles wins.
The Trojans' win over King followed the same pattern as the Trojans went 2-1 in doubles and won all six singles matches. Lautaro Vazquez played in place of Ribiero.
Mount Olive returns to action Friday as the Trojans play host to North Greenville in a Conference Carolinas match-up. Match time is 2 p.m. at Walker Tennis Center.
