No. 24 Men's Tennis Defeats Limestone 8-1 In Battle Of Conference Unbeatens

Matt Finnerty and Edgar Bub posted wins in singles and doubles as nationally 24th-ranked University of Mount Olive defeated Limestone College 8-1 in Conference Carolinas men's tennis Friday at Gaffney, S.C. The Trojans won their fifth in a row while handing the Saints their first conference loss of the season.

Mount Olive (7-3 overall, 3-0) took a 3-0 lead after doubles play as Bub combined with Paul Wiederspahn for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles and Finnerty teamed with Henric Falkenberg for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Lautaro Vazquez and Martim Sousa won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.

Finnerty (No. 1 singles) and Bub (No. 2 singles) both won in straight sets to clinch the team victory.

Mount Olive returns to action Monday as the Trojans travel to Misenheimer, N.C., to take on Pfeiffer in a Conference Carolinas match-up. Match time is 1 p.m.
