Murfreesboro, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive men's tennis team earned a 6-3 victory over Chowan University on Saturday afternoon in Murfreesboro, N.C.

INSIDE THE RESULTS

  • UMO opened the match with two-straight victories in doubles play, as junior Sherzod Akramov and sophomore Jacob Clarke captured an 8-7 (8-4) win at No. 3 followed by an 8-7 (8-6) win at No. 2 by sophomores Ogulcan Deniz and Martin Moser.
  • The Trojans took a 4-1 lead in the match with 6-2, 6-2 wins at No. 2 and 3 singles by sophomore Jose Cortijos and Moser.
  • The advantage for Mount Olive was trimmed to 4-3 as the Hawks earned wins at No. 1 and 4 singles.
  • Freshman Jack Middleton earned the victory for UMO with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 5 singles, while Akramov added a win at No. 6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5).
