Mount Olive, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive men's tennis team remained undefeated in Conference Carolinas action with an 8-1 victory over Erskine College on Saturday morning at the John Neal Walker Tennis Center in Mount Olive, N.C.

INSIDE THE RESULTS

  • UMO opened the match with a sweep of all three doubles matchups.
  • Senior Martim Sousa and sophomore Jose Cortijos teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles, while sophomores Ogulcan Deniz and Martin Moser captured an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.
  • Wrapping up the doubles sweep, sophomore Jacob Clarke and freshman Juan Arbelaez powered past their opponents at No. 3 doubles for an 8-1 win.
  • In singles action, UMO took five of six matchups.
  • Freshman Jack Middleton earned a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 5 singles and junior Sherzod Akramov added a sweep of his own, 8-0, at No. 6 singles.
  • At No. 1 singles, Deniz earned a 6-4, 6-0 win, while Moser glided past his opponent at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
  • Sousa added a narrow 8-7 victory at No. 4 singles as the Trojans earned the 8-1 match victory.
