Men's Tennis Earns 7-2 Victory Over Barton

Mount Olive, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive men's tennis team powered past Barton College, 7-2, in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday evening in Mount Olive, N.C.

INSIDE THE RESULTS

  • UMO opened the match by taking two of three doubles matches from the Bulldogs.
  • Sophomore Jose Cortijos and senior Martim Sousa earned an 8-4 win at No. 1 singles and freshmen Jack Middleton and Juan Arbelaez grabbed an 8-4 victory at No. 2 singles.
  • The Trojans pulled away from Barton in singles action, taking five of the six singles matchups.
  • Sophomore Ogulcan Deniz pushed past his opponent at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-3, while Cortijos captured an 8-4 win at No. 2 singles.
  • Sophomore Martin Moser earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles and Sousa slipped past his opponent at No. 4 singles, 8-5.
  • At No. 5 singles, Middleton grabbed a 6-0, 6-4 triumph to round out the Trojans' single victories.
