Mount Olive, N.C. – On senior day, the University of Mount Olive men's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 6-3 victory over Belmont Abbey College on Tuesday evening at the John Neal Walker Tennis Center in Mount Olive, N.C.

  • UMO opened the match by taking two of three doubles matches from the Crusaders.
  • Sophomore Jose Cortijos and senior Martim Sousa earned an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles and freshmen Jack Middleton and Juan Arbelaez grabbed an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles.
  • The Trojans earned the match victory with wins at No. 1 through No. 4 singles.
  • Sophomore Ogulcan Deniz pushed past his opponent at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-4, while Cortijos captured a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.
  • Sophomore Martin Moser earned a 6-3, 0-6, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles and Sousa glided past his opponent at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-1.

  • With the victory, UMO earns a share of the Conference Carolinas regular season championship with a 9-1 record in conference action.
  • The Trojans honored senior Martim Sousa on senior day. This season, Sousa is 11-3 in singles action and 10-5 in doubles competition
