FLORENCE, S.C. - The University of Mount Olive men's tennis team defeated the Wolves of Newberry College 4-2 on the opening day of the City of Florence 2019 College Tournament hosted by Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C.

INSIDE THE RESULTS
- Mount Olive took a 1-0 lead in the match score following a quick sweep of doubles No. 1 & 2 by the Trojans.
- Armando Ferreira and Milosh Petrovic took a 6-0 win as the No. 1 duo, while Martin Moser and Pablo Safont Ferrer won 6-1 at No. 2.
- UMO picked up two singles wins to lead Newberry 3-0 after factoring in the double point.
- Safont Ferrer won the No. 5 bout 6-1, 6-3, and Moser in the No. 2 position won his bout 6-1, 6-2.
- The Wolves closed the gap in the match score to 3-2 after picking up the No. 1 and No. 4 singles games.
- Gustavo dos Santos clinched the match for Mount Olive winning the No. 6 singles bout in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, to give UMO their fourth match point for the win.
