UMO Finishes Strong At Palmetto Invitational; Ferreira Claims Men's Singles A Draw Title

PALMETTO, South Carolina - The UMO Trojans finished out the Palmetto Tennis Center Invitational with an individual championship and a doubles runner up finish to cap off the opening weekend of the fall schedule.

Armando Ferreira began his junior season with an individual title as he won the Men's Singles A Draw by defeating Barton's Diego Agudelo in the championship bout. Agudelo defeated Milosh Petrovic 6-4, 2-6,10-4 in the semifinals preventing a UMO vs. UMO final match. 

Jack Middleton and Juan Arbelaez both made it to the quarterfinals of the B Draw consolation bracket before falling and ending their run in the tournament.

In doubles bouts, Arbelaez and Christian Djonov made it to the semifinals of the Men's Doubles A Draw and fell to the duo from Belmont Abbey who edged out Ferreira and Petrovic in the finals.

The men's tennis team returns to action at the end of the month when they travel back to Palmetto, SC, for the ITA Regionals on Sept. 26-29.
