Dylan Lafond Records 10,000 Meter Provisional Mark At Tribe Invitational

Dylan Lafond posted an NCAA Division II provisional mark and was one of four Mount Olive runners to break the previous school record in the men's 10,000 meter as the Trojans competed in the Tribe Invitational Friday and Saturday at Williamsburg, Va. The meet was hosted by William and Mary and was comprised predominantly of Division I competitors.

Lafond placed fifth out of 29 runners with a time of 30:29.62, beating the previous school record by more than a full minute. Ronnie Sturgill finished ninth with a time of 31:19.95, Aki Kitagawa was 11th at 31:27.45 and Mike Munoz placed 12th at 31:29.86. The previous school record was 31:46.04, set in 2011.

Caleb Henderson competed in three events for the Trojans, finishing third out of 12 competitors in the high jump. His distance of 1.94 meters was just shy of his own school record. Henderson was also 11th out of 21 competitors in the long jump and fourth out of nine relay teams in the 4x100, along with Shonterio Brown, Eric Jones and Lamonte Taylor.

Mount Olive returns to action next weekend as the Trojans compete in the Raleigh Relays Friday and Saturday at North Carolina State University.
