Mount Olive Completes Competition At UCS

University of Mount Olive men and women's track and field teams finished competition at the UCS Invitational at the JDL complex in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Saturday. Eight Trojans broke five school records during the meet.

In the men's division, Jacob Urys, Nick Greyno, and Cedric Thomas, Davide Cuccurullo, Guillermo Matesanz, and Joaquim Cotano all broke school records. Urys set the new record in the 800m with a time of 1:56.19. The team of Thomas, Cuccurullo, Matesanz, and Cotano broke the record in the 4x400m relay. 

Adam Craig, Cotano, Urys, and Jonathan Dalhke had success as well as the the pack set an NCAA Provisional Qualifying time in the DMR with a total time of 10:07.94. The time also moved the group into second place all time. Akiharu Kitagawa, whom is coming off an injury sustained during the fall cross country season, finished first in the 5000m and missed his personal best by 2.82 seconds.

In the women's division, Shona Blades, Alexis McNeil, Bailee Henry, and Paulena Kremling set a school record in the DMR. In the relay Kremling set a school record in the 1600m with a time of 5:14.63. The time also leads the Conference Carolinas.

Mount Olive will compete in the Conference Carolinas indoor track and field championship Sunday February 28 at the JDL Fast track facility in Winston-Salem, N.C.
