Trojans Take Home Two All-Americans On Day One Of NCAA DII Outdoor Track And Field National Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive men's and women's track & field team saw two Trojans earn an All-Americans on day one of the NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on Thursday in Charlotte, North Carolina. Leah Hanle earned first-team honors and Adam Craig earned second-team honors.

RACE NOTABLES
  • Adam Craig got the championships underway for UMO as he got as high as 5th at the 1600m mark but fell three spots once he reached the 2000m mark. Craig continued to fall as the 10000m race continued falling to as far as 14th with 1200m left in the race.
  • The senior pushed in the final laps as he climbed four spots before the finish line claiming a 10th place finish and a 2nd-team All-American for the Trojans.
  • Tai Smith also competed for Mount Olive in his first-ever track and field national championship event and finished 19th.
  • Leah Hanle rounded out the competition for UMO in the women's 10k. The sophomore started off in the pack as she was in 11th at the first marker, but motored up to 2nd by the 2000m mark. After the 4000m mark, Hanle took over the lead at the 4400 mark and held the lead for 2400m when she fell to second. She was unable to regain the lead for the remainder of the race as the finish line appeared for Hanle, but the sophomore came away with a First-Team All-American honor for Mount Olive.
