UMO Track And Field Makes Solid Marks At Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The University of Mount Olive track & field teams had a successful showing at the Alan Connie/Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C. over the weekend. The Trojans saw two NCAA Provisional qualifying marks, one school record broken, and numerous moves in the UMO top-10.

 WOMEN'S NOTABLES

  • Celine Ritter moved into third place all-time in the 5000m.
  • Kristen Clarke and Luisa Stutzke both made moves in the 100m moving into 7th and 10th respectively.
  • In the steeplechase, two Trojans moved in the top-10 as Amber Owens moved into 6th and Lena Kaster took over 8th all-time.
  • Leah Hanle also competed in the 400m hurdles for the first time in her career and made a mark in the top-10 taking over 6th place.

MEN'S NOTABLES

  • On the men's side, several Trojans made moves in the top-10.
  • Most notably Zach Teeple moved into second place in the Javelin with his throw of 60.72m and in doing so picked up an NCAA Provisional Qualifier.
  • Martin Bayles also broke the UMO record in the Pole Vault with his height 4.41m
  • Tai Smith became the second Trojan to grab an NCAA provo as his time in the Steeplechase was good enough for a championship qualifying mark.
  • Three Trojans moved spots in the 100m as Johnny Middlebrooks (2nd), Sven Bulik (3rd), and Zach Jenkins (5th) all made their new spots in the record book.
  • Michele Marticke also had two events in which he moved into the top-10. Marticke took over 4th in the pole vault (3.81m) and 6th in the 400m hurdles (54.66).
  • Rounding out the top-10 moves was Luke Miller who joined Teeple in the top-10 in the javelin. Miller's previous second-place mark was knocked down by Teeple and Miller set a new third-place mark with a 56.62m throw.
