UMO Track Field Set Big Marks At Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. – The No. 28th University of Mount Olive track & field men's team and No. 13th Women's team had a successful showing at the Colonial Relays at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. over the weekend. The Trojans saw an NCAA Automatic qualifying mark, two NCAA Provisional qualifying marks, one school record broken, and numerous moves in the UMO top-10.

 WOMEN'S NOTABLES

  • On the women's side, Leah Hanle punched her second ticket to the NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, getting an Automatic qualifier in the 10000m. Hanle won the event and is now set to run in at least the 5000m and 10000m at the national championship in Texas.
  • Princess Lea'E finished third in the shot put moving herself into second all-time in the UMO record books.
  • Joining Hanle in the 10000m, Shona Blades and Elise Tanner made moves of their own in the top-10 taking over 2nd and 5th place respectively.

MEN'S NOTABLES

  • On the men's side, Tai Smith set an NCAA Provisional mark in the 10000m while winning the event with his time of 29:58.50. He moved into 2nd place all-time as well.
  • Johnny Middlebrooks also joined the NCAA Provisional mark recipients as he set the standard in the 200m with his time of 21.33 winning the event. He also moved into second place in the UMO record book.
  • The 4x100m relay team of Kamari WalkerSven BulikTrevor Carr, and Zach Jenkins set the new UMO school record in the event after winning the event in Williamsburg.
  • Arne Leppelsack moved into seventh all-time in the 400m.
  • Rounding out the top-10 moves was Jacob Gonzalez and Jay Hall who moved into 7th and 8th respectively in the 10000m.
