CENTRAL, S.C. – The University of Mount Olive men's track & field team won the 2018-19 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday in Central, S.C. The Championship is the sixth consecutive in program history.

MEN'S NOTABLES
- UMO won 29 individual medals during the championship.
- Tai Smith, Jacob Gonzalez, Jacob Willis, Martin Bayles, Eian Hines, Trevor Carr, and Zach Teeple all became Conference Champions winning their events.
- Zach Teeple broke the Conference record in the javelin and also picked up an NCAA Provisional qualifier with his new mark of 66.29m, good enough for 6th in DII. He also broke the UMO school record by five meters.
- Eian Hines won the long jump and broke the UMO record while recording an NCAA Provisional qualifier and is 16th in the nation in the event.
- Arne Leppelsack picked up an NCAA provisional in the 400m with a time of 47.33 breaking the school record in the process. He sits 14th in the nation in the event.
- Trevor Carr became a conference champion in the triple jump while setting an NCAA provo mark and break the UMO school record in the event.
- Martin Bayles in route to becoming a conference champion broke the school record in the pole vault with his height of 4.70m.
- Richard Fisher recorded an NCAA provo in the 400m as well to go along with Leppelsack.
- Mount Olive also saw five Trojans move in the UMO Top-10 in multiple events.
- Jay Hall was named the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year and Head coach Matt van Lierop was named coach of the year.
- Jonathan Wojcuich was also named the Conference Carolinas Elite 23 Award winner for having the highest team GPA at the championship.
UP NEXT
- Mount Olive will wait to see if any of their NCAA Provisional qualifying marks will make the field at the 2019 NCAA DII Outdoor National Championships in Austin, Texas. June 5-8. Some Trojans, including Leah Hanle, and the men's 4x400m rely team have already punched their ticket with automatic qualifying marks earlier in the season.
