UMO Men's Track & Field Start Season Off With A Bang

ALLENDALE, Michigan - The University of Mount Olive men's track and field team had a strong showing at the prestigious Grand Valley State Holiday Open Friday night in Allendale, Mi. The Trojans set an NCAA provisional mark and moved a Trojan inside the top-5 on the all-time list

MEET INFORMATION
The Trojan men's team had a great first showing at their meet today in Allendale as Mount Olive competed with five runners in two different events. UMO competed in both the 5000m and the 4x400m relays. The field had athletes collecting NCAA automatic and provisional qualifiers in almost every event.

INSIDE THE RESULTS
Jeremey Hall led off the day for the Trojans in the 5000m. The senior completed the race in a time of 14:43.45 and finished 27th overall missing the NCAA provisional standard by five seconds. The time moved Hall into fifth place all-time in the UMO record books.

The 4x400m team of Richard Fisher, Tim Jones, Johnny Middlebrooks, and Tedic Shannon competed last to round out the meet for UMO. The team came in second in the event but qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship with their time of 3:15.29, four seconds off the NCAA automatic qualifying mark.

The Trojans are back in competition tomorrow when the team heads to the JDL College Kick-Off in Winston-Salem, N.C.
