Trojans Fall To Nationally Second-Ranked Loyola (Chicago) 3-0

Playing its second match against a national top 10 team in less than 24 hours, University of Mount Olive fell to Loyola University-Chicago 25-9, 25-11, 25-9 in non-conference men's volleyball Saturday at Chicago, Ill. The Trojans took No. 9 Lewis University to four sets Friday. Angel Dache shared match-high honors with 11 kills, reaching double figures for the third time in as many matches this season.

After dropping the first set, Mount Olive (1-2) jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second set as Tyler Yanez served an ace on the opening point and Dache recorded a kill. Loyola (4-1) went up 6-5 on a Trojan attack error and led the remainder of the set. Mount Olive never led in the third set.

Yanez finished with 11 assists and combined with Lewis Einarson on Mount Olive's lone block of the contest.

Thomas Jaeschke led three Loyola players in double figures with 11 kills.

Mount Olive returns to action next weekend as the Trojans play host to a pair of Conference Carolinas contests at Kornegay Arena. Mount Olive faces Limestone Friday at 7 p.m., then takes on Erskine Saturday at 2 p.m. The Trojans are 1-0 in conference play after opening the season Wednesday with a three-set win over Barton.
