Men's Volleyball Wraps Up Pennsylvania Trip With Three-Set Loss At Saint Francis

University of Mount Olive posted a .320 hitting percentage in the opening set, but Division I Saint Francis pulled away for a 25-19, 25-16, 25-16 victory over the Trojans in non-conference men's volleyball Sunday at Loretto, Pa. Angel Dache and Garrett Dimm led the Trojans with nine kills apiece as Mount Olive completed its two-match weekend visit to the Keystone State.

Mount Olive (1-6) cut an early four-point deficit down to one in the first set as three kills by Dache brought the Trojans within 11-10. Saint Francis (3-3) scored the next three points and extended its lead to 20-14. A pair of kills by Dimm helped the Trojans close the gap to 22-18, but the Red Flash scored four of the next five points to take the opening set.

The Trojans compiled 11 kills and only three errors in 25 attempts in the first set.

Mount Olive fell behind early in the second set and never recovered. In the third set, the Trojans tied the set 10-10 on Andrew Sydow's service ace. Saint Francis answered with an 8-2 run and went on to capture the win.

Quaid Marin started at setter for Mount Olive and recorded 25 assists.

Kyle Beatty led Saint Francis with a match-high 13 kills. The Red Flash recorded a .645 hitting percentage with 45 kills and only five errors in 62 attempts.

Mount Olive is back in action Tuesday as the Trojans play host to former Conference Carolinas member Coker in a non-conference match-up. Match time is 7 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.
