Trojans Fall To Erskine 3-0

University of Mount Olive fell in straight sets to Erskine 23-25, 14-25, 25-27 in Conference Carolinas men's volleyball Saturday afternoon in Due West, S.C. Mount Olive came back down by five to tie the third set, but were unable to force a fourth set.

Mount Olive (7-4 Overall, 6-3 Conference Carolinas) in the third set battled back from a 3-0 deficit to get the Trojans first lead of the game 6-5 after a three point rally. The set went on to be knotted up three more times before Erskine (8-3, 7-0) took a 21-16 lead.  Following an Flying Fleet timeout at 22-19, Mount Olive put together a 5-1 run to tie the game up at 24. 

Both teams exchanged kills to tie the set once again. Erskine however was able to capitalize off a Trojan setting error and add a kill to take the final set of the match.

In the first set Mount Olive and Erskine were tied up 10 times throughout the set. The Flying Fleet ended the set on a 5-2 run and took the first set 25-23.

The second set Mount Olive was not able to put a stop to the offensive attack from Erskine as the Flying Fleet opened the set on a seven point run. The Trojans sided out to trail by six but an eight point swing put the set out of reach as Mount Olive had a 15-1 deficit and could not recover.

Mount Olive will play Limestone College on the road March 1 in Gaffney, S.C. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
