Men's Volleyball Falls To Belmont Abbey 3-0

University of Mount Olive fell 3-0 to Belmont Abbey College 25-19, 25-20, 25-16 in Conference Carolinas men's volleyball Tuesday night in Belmont, N.C. Kian Hollevoet led Mount Olive with 10 kills in the match. 

Mount Olive (8-9 Overall, 7-5 Conference Carolinas) after tying the first set up at four took a two point lead capitalizing off two Belmont Abbey (13-8, 8-5) errors. The Trojans held on to a the lead for a majority of the first set until up 15-14 the Crusaders rallied for the final lead. A four point run gave Belmont Abbey a three point cushion heading into a Trojan timeout. Following the timeout Mount Olive was only able to draw to within 19-17, but were not allowed to tie the set again.

In the second set Mount Olive again had the early momentum as a four point run put the Trojans up 6-2. Mount Olive kept the four point lead for a good portion of the set until the Crusaders used to three point rallies down 13-10 to take a two point lead themselves 16-14. A final three point run late in the set sealed the win as BAC led 22-20 and Mount Olive could only get within a point before dropping the second set.

The final set was all Belmont Abbey as the Crusaders put away the Trojans only allowing the opposing squad to have the lead with the first point, before taking the lead back for the remainder of the set.

Mount Olive will return home to Kornegay Arena Saturday March 26 at noon to take on the Flying Fleet of Erskine College.
