Banner Elk, N.C. --- The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team glided past Lees-McRae College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in Banner Elk, N.C.

Play-by-Play
FIRST SET
- After the lead changed hands twice in the early going, UMO used a 5-1 run to move ahead at 14-11.
- King used a 3-0 run to answer the Trojans and tie the set at 14.
- UMO pulled ahead by a pair of points at 20-18, but King responded with a 3-0 run to take a 21-20 advantage, forcing a Mount Olive timeout.
- The Trojans emerged from the timeout and recorded five of the last six points to capture the first set victory, 25-22.
- In an error-filled opening set, Mount Olive hit just .103 while Lees-McRae hit .027.
SECOND SET
- After a sluggish first set, the Trojans opened the second frame on a 6-0 run that featured three kills by junior Robert Poole.
- A 7-1 run by Lees-McRae tied the set at seven and forced UMO to call a timeout.
- With the match tied at 11, UMO inched its way out to a five-point lead at 19-14 in route to the 25-19 set win.
THIRD SET
- The Bobcats looked to extend the match past the third set as Lees-McRae opened a 3-1 lead early in the frame.
- Mount Olive answered with a 7-2 run to earn an 8-5 advantage over the Bobcats.
- The Trojans' lead ballooned to five at 16-11 as the Trojans held onto that margin in the 25-20 third set victory.
KEY STATS
- Poole led UMO with nine kills and three blocks on the afternoon, while senior Alex Palmatier chipped in seven kills in the win.
- Junior Jeff Yasalonis recorded his second double-double of the season as he led the Trojans with 27 assists and 10 digs.
- After hitting just .103 in the opening set, the Trojans hit .435 and .233 in the second and third sets, respectively.
