Harrogate, Tenn. --- After falling behind 2-1, the University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team rallied to defeat Lincoln Memorial University, 3-2, in a non-conference match in Mars Gym in Harrogate, Tennessee.

FIRST SET

  • The Trojans got off to a hot start in the opening set as UMO took a 9-3 lead early on.

SECOND SET

THIRD SET

  • In a tight set, LMU began to pull away, taking a 13-8 lead.
  • UMO fought back within two at 22-20 and within a single point at 24-23.
  • The Railsplitters closed out the Trojans, 25-23, to take a two sets to one lead.

FOURTH SET

  • Mount Olive was forced to fend off Lincoln Memorial in the fourth set as the Trojans took a slim 11-8 lead.
  • The Trojans and Ralisplitters traded points until UMO recorded back-to-back kills by junior Brad Rutledge and Monaghan that pushed Mount Olive's lead to 15-11.
  • LMU stormed back to cut the Trojans' lead to just one at 20-19, but Mount Olive responded with a 5-1 run to grab the 25-20 set victory and force a fifth set.

FIFTH SET

  • After recording the first point and taking a 1-0 lead, UMO never looked back, opening a 7-3 lead on the Railsplitters.
  • LMU cut Mount Olive's lead to just two at 7-5, but the Trojans answered with a 4-0 run to take an 11-5 advantage.
  • The Railsplitters had one last run in them as LMU cut the Trojans' lead to 14-11.
  • Mount Olive ended the match with a kill by Rutledge that earned UMO the 15-11 set win and the 3-2 match victory.
