LORETTO, PA. --- The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team fell in three sets to the Red Flash of No. 15 Saint Francis University on Saturday evening in Loretto, Pa.

How It Happened
Play-by-Play

FIRST SET

  • The first set opened with Saint Francis quickly gaining a three-point lead over Mount Olive through the first several services.
  • UMO came back to tie the Red Flash at 12 all before a long run by SFU put the Red Flash up 19-12.
  • A service error by Saint Francis broke up the run and allowed the Trojans to get some momentum as they scored six points late in the set but the Red Flash lead was too high as SFU took the first set 25-19.

SECOND SET

  • The Trojans got the scoring going first in the second set going up 3-2 on two kills and a Saint Francis service error. 
  • After the score tied at four, the Red Flash went up 7-4 following three unanswered points.
  • UMO answered with a four-point run to take an 8-7 lead.
  • SFU tied the set at eight which spurred a back and forth fight between the two squads as the scored tied four times, last at 13 all, before the Red Flash gained a lead.
  • Saint Francis went on a 12-5 run to win out the second set 25-18 and go up two games to none.

THIRD SET

  • The Red Flash came out opening the third set on a 4-0 run carrying over momentum from the first two sets.
  • The Trojans, after calling timeout, recollected themselves and answered by pulling within three points, 7-4.
  • UMO continued to fight back as they went on a 9-6 run to tie Saint Francis at 13 all midway through the set.
  • The score tied five times before the Trojans went up by two to lead the Red Flash 20-18.
  • SFU came back to tie the set again at 21 and spurred another battle that saw the score tie three more times before Saint Francis put two points together to win the set 26-24 and the match 3-0.
