MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. --- The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team defeated Coker College in three sets in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at Kornegay Arena in Mount Olive, N.C. Bret Rutledge hit .500 % knocking down 13 kills on 24 attempts to lead the Trojans attack.

FIRST SET
- An ace from Brad Monaghan started the match off the Trojans who went up by four points early on in the set to hold the 8-4 lead.
- Mount Olive's lead grew to seven following three kills, an ace and a Coker error as UMO held the 13-6 lead midway through the set.
- Coker tried to catch Mount Olive, but the Trojans held off the Cobra rally to win set one 25-17.
SECOND SET
- UMO took another early lead as back-to-back aces from Robert Poole put the Trojans up 7-3.
- The Cobras pulled within two points, 11-9, before the Trojans went ahead by six points, 15-9, following a pair of kills and Coker errors.
- Both teams closed out the set scoring 10 points each with the Trojans winning 25-19 giving UMO the 2-0 match lead.
THIRD SET
- The third set opened with both teams going point-for-point as the score tied up five times, last at seven all, before Mount Olive took a four-point lead, 11-7, forcing a Coker timeout.
- Coker came back to trail by one, 17-16, following the timeout, but two kills by Poole and a Coker error gave UMO the 20-16 lead late in the set.
- Each team scored five points as Mount Olive held off Coker to win the set 25-21 and the match 3-0.

- Bret Rutledge (13) and Robert Poole (11) combined for 24 of the teams 42 kills.
- Rutledge hit .500% on the night recording 13 kills on 24 attempts.
- Freshman Luke Visgitis recorded four kills on 10 attacks for a .400 hitting percentage.
