Trojans Host Saints In Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Championship Quarterfinals

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The third-seeded University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team gets set to host the sixth-seeded Limestone College Saints in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Championship on Tuesday, April 17, at 6:30 p.m. in Kornegay Arena in Mount Olive, N.C.

  • The University of Mount Olive
    • The Trojans finished the regular season 15-12 overall and 11-5 in conference action.
    • In their last outing, Mount Olive fell to King University, No. 1 seed in this year's tournament, in three sets in Bristol, Tenn.
    • UMO's attack is led by senior opposite hitter Robert Poole who leads the team in kills and sits third in the conference standings in the same category with 299 kills on the season. Poole also leads the team, conference, and nation with 69 service aces and his 0.76 service ace per set average.
    • Freshman middle blocker Luke Visgitis has made his presence known with 129 kills on the season and 50 assisted blocks which sits tenth best in the conference rankings. The freshman has a total of 56 blocks which leads the team and is tied for 12th against conference opponents.
    • Jeff Yasalonis, a senior setter, has been the teams leading assistor all season long with 853 assists on the season. During the regular season, Yasalonis became the men's volleyball program leader in assists and has eclipsed the 2,500 assists mark as he currently has 2,548 career assists.
    • Josh Donahue leads the team with 233 digs on the season as the Trojans starting libero. Donahue is the reigning Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Year after picking up the honors at the end of the 2017 season. The Jacksonville Beach, Fla. native is 11 digs away from reaching 1,000 career digs.
    • Bret Rutledge and Brad Monaghan have been a consistent duo for the Trojans combining for 425 kills, 14 assists, 45 aces and 217 digs. Rutledge sits in second behind Poole in service aces this season with 37.
  • Limestone College
    • The Saints finished the regular season with an 8-19 overall record and went 5-11 against conference opponents.
    • During the final game of the regular season, Limestone fell in five sets to North Greenville in Tigerville, S.C.
    • Limestone's attack is led by Anthony Savage with 266 kills and a 2.74 per set average and Francisco Salinger Cenzual who has tallied 230 kills and averaged 2.8- kills per set.
