UMO Men's Volleyball Down Hawks Of Quincy 3-0

QUINCY, Illinois - The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team defeated the Hawks of Quincy University in straight sets, 25-20 25-17 25-20 on Friday night in Saint Charles, Mo.

GAME INFORMATION
Mount Olive fell behind from the first point, however, the opening set was a dogfight as neither team held more than a three-point lead heading into the final points of the set. The Trojans led 22-20 and were able to close the set out on kills from Eric Visgitis and Tobi Azeez and a Quincy error and took the opening set 25-20.

Set two started slightly different for the Trojans as they scored the first two points of the set, but the same trend started to commence again as the teams were deadlocked in a close one-to-two point contest. Mount Olive broke the trend at the 11-8 scoreline with a four-point run to extend the lead to 15-8. The seven-point lead for the Trojans proved to be enough to hold off the Hawks as the UMO lead shrunk to as little as five in the final points of the set, as Mount Olive took set two 25-17.

The third set became a battle out of the gate but then shifted after the first five points. UMO went on a five-point run to take an 8-2 lead that forced a QU timeout. Following the timeout, the Hawks were able to tie the game at nine and the battle began once more as the final set went onto be tied 11 more times settling at 23 all. The final two points came off a Quincy attacking error and Troy Magorien finished the match off with a kill to give the Trojans a 25-23 set win and match win.

Trojan Leaders
The Trojans were led by Tobi Azeez with 10 kills in the match. Shane Yeo tallied 31 of the team's 35 assists. Troy Magorien led the defense with five digs.

Quincy Leaders
The Hawks were led by Michael Ladner with 11 kills. Yoran Raymaekers collected 23 assists and tallied eight digs. 

Key Moment
The key moment came in the final set as Troy Magorien sealed the win for UMO with a kill on the final point to give the Trojans a straight-set win.
