UMO Men's Volleyball Falls To No. 2 BYU 3-0

MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team fell to the No. 2 Cougars of Brigham Young University in straight sets, 25-17 25-10 25-22 on Friday night inside Kornegay Arena.

GAME INFORMATION
Mount Olive kept the nationally-ranked Cougars of BYU close in the opening set taking the first two points of the set before Brigham Young went on a 6-0 run midway through the set to take an 18-6 lead. The Trojans were able to take a few two-point sideouts but could not manage more than that as they fell in the opening set 25-17.

Set two was close at the beginning being tied five all at the start, but BYU catapulted to a 16-5 lead that could not be stopped by even two UMO timeouts. Despite a short 3-0 run by Mount Olive following the outburst by the Cougars, Brigham Young ended the set on a 6-2 run and took the second by a score of 25-10.

The third set became a battle as the Trojans took the first point and after the set was tied five times UMO held a 12-10 lead. BYU did come back to tie the set at 14 and regain the lead a point later and proceed to go on a four-point run. UMO kept the deficit to with two for most of the final points but could not complete the comeback and fell in the final set 25-22.

TROJAN LEADERS
The Trojans were led by Jarrod Ferguson with nine kills in the match. Shane Yeo tallied 13 of the team's 26 assists and also recorded six digs.

BRIGHAM YOUNG LEADERS
The Cougars were led by Davide Gardini with 15 kills. Ernest Brody collected 28 assists and tallied four digs. 

KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in the second set when BYU took a 16-5 lead and used that momentum in the third set to take the match in straight sets.
