Men's Cross Country Wins Wingate Bulldog Stampede

Nationally 10th-ranked University of Mount Olive captured its second straight team title as the Trojans finished first out of six men's cross country teams at the Wingate University Bulldog Stampede Saturday at Wingate, N.C. Running as a group, eight Trojan runners finished in the top nine, only two seconds apart.

Fredric Lang finished second out of 47 runners with a time of 26:55 in the 8k event. Eugeni Gil and Mike Munoz were right behind Lang at 26:56. Five more Trojan runners posted a time of 26:57.

Mount Olive compiled a team score of 20 points, missing the minimum possible score by only five points. The Trojans outdistanced second-place Wingate by 39 points.

Saturday's meet was the final regular season competition for Mount Olive. The Trojans are idle next weekend, then head to Concord, N.C., November 7 to compete in the 2014 Conference Carolinas Men's Cross Country Championship.
