No. 18 UMO Finishes Second At Elon Men's Cross Country Invitational

Nationally 18th-ranked University of Mount Olive placed six runners in the top 12 as the Trojans placed second out of five teams at the Elon University Men's Cross Country Invitational Saturday at Elon, N.C. The Trojans finished only four points behind first-place and Division I Elon, while finishing 48 points ahead of Division I North Carolina A&T.

The Trojans' top five runners finished sixth through 11th for 42 points, while Elon runners captured the second, third and fourth-place spots on its way to 38 points.

Akiharu Kitagawa finished sixth out of 53 runners with a time of 26:31 in the 8k race, followed by Michael Munoz in seventh with a time of 26:39 and Fredric Lang in eighth with a time of 26:42. Adam Craig (26:43) finished 10th, a fraction of a second ahead of Jonathan Dahlke (26:43).

Mount Olive returns to action September 26 as the Trojans travel to Wingate, N.C., to compete in the Wingate University Invitational.
