Duncan, S.C. --- The University of Mount Olive softball team dropped a pair of games to Wingate University and Lenoir-Rhyne University, 4-3 and 7-2, on Saturday in the Mid-South Classic in Duncan, South Carolina.

GAME ONE
- Mount Olive went down in order in the opening two innings as Wingate pitcher Aubrey Reep struck out five of the first six Trojan batters.
- UMO broke free in the top of the third as sophomore Kelly Huffman knocked in a pair of runs with a single to center field that put the Trojans up 2-0.
- The Bulldogs responded in the bottom half of the third with a run on a RBI single that trimmed UMO's lead to 2-1.
- In the top of the sixth, the Trojans extended their lead to 3-1 as senior Caitlin Ewers singled through the left side to score senior JenniBeth Burge.
- Wingate captured the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth, plating three runs in the Bulldogs' 4-3 win.
KEY STATS GAME 1
- Freshman Karen Foley (0-6) picked up the loss in the circle pitching a complete six innings, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits while striking out five in the loss.
- The Trojans recorded just three hits in the contest, as Huffman, Ewers, and junior Anna Ingram each recorded a base hit.
GAME TWO
- Mount Olive fell behind early as Lenoir-Rhyne plated a pair of runs in the top of the second to open a 2-0 lead.
- The Trojans answered in the bottom half of the first, scoring a run on a RBI single up the middle by junior Kristin Power that scored freshman Mikayla Koch and pushed UMO within one at 2-1.
- In the bottom of the fifth, UMO tied the game at two on a single down the left field line by Burge that plated Power.
- The Bears exploded in the top of the seventh for five runs as Lenoir-Rhyne earned a 7-2 win over Mount Olive.
KEY STATS GAME 2
- Freshman Emily Chaisson (5-2) received just her second loss of the season, pitching a complete seven innings, allowing just one earned run on 10 hits and striking out three.
- Burge led the Trojans with a pair of hits and a RBI.
