Mount Olive, N.C. --- The University of Mount Olive softball team swept a pair of games from Belmont Abbey College, 6-5 and 5-2, to open Conference Carolinas play on Saturday afternoon at Nancy Chapman Cassell Field in Mount Olive, N.C.

GAME ONE
- Belmont Abbey scored first on a two-run home run in the top of the second inning that gave the Crusaders a 2-0 lead.
- UMO sophomore Callie Ferrell cut BAC's lead in half in the bottom of the second with a RBI single to left field that scored junior Anna Ingram and trimmed the Crusaders' lead to 2-1.
- The Trojans tied it at two in the bottom half of the third inning as freshman Karen Foley hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored junior Kristin Power.
- UMO took its first lead of the contest in the fifth on a Belmont Abbey error that gave the Trojans a 3-2 advantage.
- The Crusaders answered UMO in the sixth as Belmont Abbey scored three runs to go back ahead 5-3.
- In their last chance in the seventh, the Trojans put a pair of runners in scoring position with two outs.
- Senior Danielle Myers came in to pinch hit for UMO and blasted a three-run walk-off home run to win the game for the Trojans, 6-5.
KEY STATS GAME 1
- Myers' three RBIs led the way for the Trojans while Ferrell, Foley, and Ingram all added single RBIs.
- In the circle, Foley (1-7) earned her first collegiate victory, pitching a complete seven-inning game, allowing five earned runs on six hits, while striking out five.
GAME TWO
- The Trojans turned the tables on Belmont Abbey in the nightcap as UMO scored three runs in the bottom of the third to open up a 3-0 lead.
- BAC responded in the fourth with a solo home run that trimmed the Trojans' lead to 3-1.
- Sophomore Charlene Thompson pushed UMO's advantage back to three at 4-1 on a RBI single to right field in the fourth inning that scored freshman Mikayla Koch.
- Thompson struck again with a RBI triple to center field in the sixth that scored freshman Kelsey Hayes and gave the Trojans a 5-1 lead.
- The Crusaders attempted to push their way back into the game, scoring a run on a two-out RBI single in the seventh before UMO freshman Emily Chaisson induced a groundout to end the game and give the Trojans a 5-2 win.
KEY STATS GAME 2
- Freshman Emily Chaisson (6-2) earned the win in the circle, pitching a complete seven-inning contest, allowing just two earned runs on four hits.
- Thompson powered UMO at the plate, going three-for-four with a pair of RBIs and a triple in the win.
