Daytona Beach, Fla. --- The University of Mount Olive softball team split a doubleheader with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, 6-2 (W) and 8-0 (5 innings), to open its southern road trip on Monday evening in Daytona Beach, Florida.

GAME ONE
- Mount Olive opened the scoring in the first game as sophomore Charlene Thompson hit a single and advanced to second on a stolen base before freshman Karen Foley hammered a home run over the left field fence to put the Trojans ahead 2-0 in the top of the first inning.
- Embry-Riddle wasted no time in answering as the Eagles loaded the bases with just one out in the bottom half of the first, but ERAU could muster only one run.
- The Eagles loaded the bases again in the bottom of the second, but once again only scored a single run, tying the contest at two.
- Foley pushed the Trojans back ahead, 4-2, in the third with another two-run homer that scored junior Kayla Allen.
- Senior Danielle Myers increased Mount Olive's advantage to 5-2 in the fourth on a single that scored junior Anna Ingram.
- The Trojans added a final run in the seventh as Allen reached on a fielding error and junior Kristin Power scored on the error as UMO took the game one victory, 6-2.
KEY STATS GAME 1
- Foley led UMO with a pair of home runs, four RBI, and two runs in the win.
- In the circle, Chaisson (7-2) pitched a complete seven-inning game, allowing nine hits, but limiting the Eagles to just two runs while striking out three.
GAME TWO
- ERAU jumped on top early in the contest as the Eagles took a 4-0 lead in the first inning.
- Embry-Riddle recorded another run in the second, increasing its advantage to 5-0.
- The Eagles added three runs on a three-run homer in the third that gave ERAU an 8-0 lead in route to the win.
- UMO was held to just one hit in the loss.
KEY STATS GAME 2
- Foley (1-8) received the loss, pitching two-thirds of an inning, allowing four runs on two hits.
- The lone hit for the Trojans came off the bat of Power to lead off the fourth inning.
