Mount Olive, N.C. --- The University of Mount Olive softball team split a doubleheader with Erskine College, 4-1 (Win) and 2-0, in Conference Carolinas action on Friday afternoon in Mount Olive, N.C.

GAME ONE

  • The Trojans scored first in the bottom of the first as junior Anna Ingram doubled down the left field line, scoring freshman Kelsey Hayes, putting UMO ahead 1-0.
  • Erskine evened the game at one in the top of the third on a RBI double to center field.
  • UMO pushed back ahead in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by sophomore Callie Ferrell.
  • Ferrell added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth with her second homer of the day that provided the Trojans with their 4-1 advantage in the victory.

KEY STATS GAME 1

  • Junior Kylie Ward (3-4) pitched a complete game in the victory, allowing just one run on five hits, striking out two.
  • Ferrell led UMO with a pair of hits, both home runs, and three RBI in the win.

GAME TWO

  • Erskine jumped in front in the top of the first with a RBI base-hit.
  • The Flying Fleet added a run in the fifth on a base hit to center field that pushed Erskine ahead 2-0.

  • UMO had one final shot to extend the contest in the seventh, but the Trojans went down in order as Erskine earned the 2-0 win.
