GAME ONE

  • Barton extended their lead by adding a run in the top of the fifth.
  • Kelsey Hayes, Kristin Power, and Charlene Thompson all singled to start off the Trojan half of the fifth. Kayla Allen pushed home Hayes and Thompson with an RBI-single to left. Power was tagged out at home on the play but a mental lapse by the Bulldogs allowed Thompson to score.
  • Barton added an insurance run in the top of the sixth to move out 4-2.
  • UMO had runners at second and third but could not find the key hit and fell in game one.

KEY STATS GAME 1

  • Allen led the way for UMO at the plate, going two-for-four with two RBI.
  • In the circle, Foley (L: 3-10) took the loss, pitching all seven innings, allowing four runs, three earned, off four hits.

GAME TWO

  • Mount Olive started the second game in a completely different fashion as the Trojans retired the Bulldogs in order in the top of the first.
  • UMO did not wait long to score the game's first run as Allen doubled home Power, who singled prior, to give Mount Olive the lead. Mount Olive went on to score four more runs on two Barton errors and a steal of home giving the Trojans the 5-0 lead.
  • The Trojans added four runs in the bottom of the third. Alyssa Pickle came in to pinch hit and proceeded, with the bases loaded, to unload them with a grand slam over the right centerfield wall.
  • Another four-run inning was put up by Mount Olive in the bottom of the fourth with RBI from Caitlin Ewers, Callie Ferrell, and Kelsey Hayes as the Trojans took a 13-0 lead.
  • Barton did score one run in the top of the fifth but it was not enough to escape the mercy rule as Mount Olive took game two in five innings.
