SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The University of Mount Olive softball team dropped both contests as they wrapped up competition at the Mid-South Classic Tournament.

GAME RUNDOWN

  • The Railsplitters got the game going with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to take the 2-0 lead over the Trojans.
  • Three more runs in the bottom of the third gave Lincoln Memorial a 5-0 lead.
  • The Trojans only run of the game came in the top of the sixth inning as Callie Ferrell crossed the plate after the Kayla Allen single drove Ferrell home.

GAME RUNDOWN

  • UMO gave up four runs in the bottom of the first as the Bobcats took the early 4-0 lead.
  • The Trojans bats got hot in the top of the third as a trio of runs were scored. With bases loaded Anna Ingram came up to the plate and cleared them as she hit a single through the left side that scored Ferrell and Thompson while Allen scored off the throwing error by the catcher putting the score at 4-3.
  • The Bobcats scored one run in the bottom of the sixth giving them the two-run lead, 5-3, that they held on to, to win the game.

Mount Olive is back in action in a doubleheader on March 1, as the team travels to Belmont, N.C. to face the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey. The first game begins at 1 p.m. with the second to begin around 3 p.m.
