BANNER ELK, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive softball team dropped both contests against the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College in a Conference Carolinas competition in Banner Elk, N.C.

GAME RUNDOWN

  • After a scoreless first inning, the Trojans managed to get on the scoreboard first with a pair of runs in the top of the second. An Eileen Barrera single up the middle scored both Alexis Hobson and Anna Ingram to give UMO a 2-0 lead.
  • LMC had an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning brought the Bobcats within a run, 2-1, of the Trojans.
  • The Bobcats tied the game at two-all with a home run to left field in the bottom of the third inning, but the Trojans reclaimed the lead, 3-2, as Heather Childress scored off of an Ingram double to centerfield.
  • Lees-McRae took a one-run lead, 4-3, as the Bobcats hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the sixth off pitcher Emily Chaisson.
  • Hobson scored to tie the game at four-all in the top of the seventh following a Callie Ferrell doubled to right centerfield.
  • A walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh gave the Bobcats the 5-4 lead to win game one.

GAME RUNDOWN

  • LMC opened the second game with an RBI double to left centerfield taking a 1-0 lead over UMO.
  • After three scoreless innings, the Trojans put up a run to tie the game as Amari Borrego scored on a single to centerfield by Kayla Allen.
  • The Bobcats took a 2-1 lead as they countered in the bottom of the fifth inning with a player stealing home.
  • Mount Olive, in the top of the seventh, tied the game at two runs each as Charlene Thompson went home on a Kristin Power fielders choice.
  • A walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh sealed the game in favor of the Bobcats who won 6-2.

KEY STATS

  • Kayla Allen and Kristin Power were credited with the RBI's for game two.
  • Taylor Waddell (L: 2-2) picked up the loss giving up five runs in 2.1 innings pitched. She also walked three and struck out two.
