MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive softball team dropped both games of the doubleheader against the Crusaders of North Greenville University on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action at Nancy Chapman Cassell Field in Mount Olive, N.C. The Trojans recognized their five seniors, Kayla Allen, Alexis Hobson, Anna Ingram, Kylie Ward, and Kristin Power, prior to the two games in the 2018 Softball Senior Day ceremony.

GAME RUNDOWN

  • UMO got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first inning as Kristin Power ran home following an Anna Ingram single up the middle.
  • NGU took a 3-1 lead over the next three innings scoring a single run in the top of the third and a pair of runs in the top fourth.
  • An Alexis Hobson single down the leftfield line scored Heather Childress pulling the Trojans within a run, 3-2, in the bottom of the sixth.
  • North Greenville increased their lead to five runs as the Crusaders scored four in the top of the seventh and held the Trojans scoreless in the bottom half of the frame to win game one 7-2.

KEY STATS

  • Hobson and Ingram both tallied one hit in three at-bats that drove in single RBI's.

GAME RUNDOWN

  • North Greenville got out to an early lead as they scored two runs each in the tops of the first, second and third innings to hold a 6-0 lead over Mount Olive.
  • Kayla Allen scored the lone Trojan run in the bottom of the third as she stole home following a high throw from the catcher back to the pitcher.
  • The Crusaders closed out the game scoring two more runs in the tops of the fourth and fifth innings going ahead by nine runs, 10-1, and held off the Trojans attack in the bottom of the fifth inning to win game two.

KEY STATS

  • Allen tallied one run on one hit in three at-bats.
