Six Softball Trojans Land On The Academic All-Conference Team

Mount Olive, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive softball team placed six student-athletes on the Academic All-Conference Carolinas team as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Representing the Trojans were Kayla Allen, Emily Chaisson, Callie Ferrell, Anna Ingram, Kristin Power, and Kylie Ward.

The six Trojans join 58 other student-athletes from member institutions that were named to the 2018 Conference Carolinas Softball Academic All-Conference Team for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale. GPA is calculated based on the student-athlete's cumulative average through the previous semester, and each student-athlete must have attended their member institution for at least one academic year. Academic All-Conference Teams are comprised of juniors and seniors who play in one of Conference Carolina's twenty-one sponsored sports.

Each year the Academic All-Conference Teams are released as part of the championship season.

The softball team earned the seventh seed heading into the 2018 Conference Carolinas Softball Championship Tournament. UMO will face the No. 2 seeded Erskine Flying Fleet on Friday, April 27, in the opening round of the softball tournament at 1 p.m.
